COURSE REGISTRATION GUIDE

The Registrar’s Office guide to course registration gives you step by step instructions as well as a list of Frequently Asked Questions. The Student Central Helpline is always available to answer any questions you may have too! They can be reached at 519-661-2100.

DRAFT MY SCHEDULE

Use this tool to help build an individual conflict-free class schedule. This can be found on your Student Center, Under Western Links: Draft My Schedule.

Please note that by doing your Draft My Schedule that this does not guarantee you will get those sections when your course registration time comes.

WHAT COURSES DO I ENROLL IN?

For a list of your required courses each year, please refer to the “What Do I Take Next?” pages on the Engineering website at http://www.eng.uwo.ca/undergraduate/upper-year/next.html.

SPECIAL PERMISSIONS

You will need permission to register in an increased load, to enroll in a course without a pre-requisite, or if a course/lab or tutorial is full.

To add a course without a pre-req or to add a course that is full you need approval from the course instructor and your department. For trying to add a course that is full, there may be movement in different sections throughout the registration period as well, so keep checking back for available spots. If the course is mandatory for your program, contact your Academic Counsellor.

For approval to do a course overload ( anything above what your required course credits are for the year you are in – see progression sheets ) – you only need your department office to sign the form. *You must have a minimum 70% term average to be considered for an overload.

Please note: Email approvals from instructors are fine if you are unable to find them in person or you are not in London over the summer. Email approvals must be attached TOGETHER with special permission form.

--Instructor’s names are listed on the online timetable. If a name is not listed 1) if it’s an Engineering course, please contact your department office 2) for a non-engineering course (ie. Computer Science) please contact their department office. Instructor’s contact information can be found in the directory.

Once you have the instructor’s approval, submit the completed form (along with approval email(s) if applicable), to your department office* for final approval.

Please make sure to attach your ACADEMIC RECORD and TIMETABLE with your form(s), or it/they will not be processed.

Once the permission is visible, FIRST try to add the course yourself on Student Center. If that works, great. If not, you will need to call the Student Central Helpline at 519-661-2100 to be added to the class(es).

The special permission form can be found here.

TIMETABLE CONFLICTS

DEPARTMENT COUNSELLORS

Your department counsellor can also assist with course information and program requirements. To find contact information for your Department Counsellor, please click here.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
1. When you enroll in your courses, please be sure to add all courses to your “shopping cart” before clicking on Finish Enrolling. This will clear up enrollment issues related to co-requisites (many Engineering courses have co-requisites, and you must enroll in them at the same time or you will get an error message).

2. If you do not see a course or section listed when registering, it usually means the course is either not offered or the section is full. Please refer the online timetable for more information.

3. BUS 1220E is not an exact equivalent to BUS 1299E or BUS 2299E. If you took BUS 1220E in the fall/winter or summer term, you still need to complete the Engineering Economics portion of the course to get your full Business credit. During fall/winter course registration, you will need to contact your Academic Counsellor in Engineering to be enrolled in BUS 1299E. You will complete the economics portion of the course which runs during the month of January.

If you have any questions not addressed in any of the information here, please contact your Academic Counsellor.
