Welcome to Dr. Andrew Hrymak and Dr. Amit Chakma

Welcome to Dr. Andrew Hrymak and Dr. Amit Chakma who joined the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering on July 1, 2009. Dr. Andrew Hrymak is also the new Dean of Engineering and Dr. Amit Chakma is the new President of The University of Western Ontario.

Department Chair

Congratulations to Dr. Ajay Ray, who assumed the role of Chair of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering on July 1, 2009 for a five-year term. Previously, Dr. Ray was the Associate Chair, Graduate, in the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering. He is an internationally recognized researcher in catalysis and reaction engineering with over 100 refereed journal papers, 4 book chapters, a text book entitled “Mathematical Methods in Chemical and Environmental Engineering” (International Thomson Learning), and a European patent on an innovative photocatalytic reactor. He is also a dedicated teacher who has developed and taught a number of undergraduate and graduate courses in Chemical Engineering and helped develop professional short courses.

The Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at The University of Western Ontario offers innovative and enriched programs for students who wish to pursue green process engineering, chemical and biochemical engineering, alone, or in combination with many other degree options.

Our department also has a strong research component with many faculty members conducting excellent, innovative and world-class research in their areas.
