Student Biomedical Engineering Club

The Western Engineering Biomedical Club (WE BMC) brings together like-minded students who share an interest in applying engineering principles to healthcare and medical applications. WE BMC provides a space for students to explore biomedical engineering, develop technical and professional skills, and gain exposure to research, industry professionals and academic pathways.

The club hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including company tours, industry spotlights, graduate and professor panels, networking socials, and attendance at biomedical conferences across Ontario.

Members can also gain hands-on experience through the club’s design team, where students work together to develop solutions to real-world biomedical problems and present their work in competitions. Most recently, the team has worked on MustangMotion, a smart knee sleeve design to aid ACL rehabilitation and return-to-sport protocols that was competed against schools coast to coast at the True North Biomedical Competition.

True North Biomedical Competition (TNBC)

The True North Biomedical Competition (TNBC) brings together top undergraduate students from across Canada to tackle real-world healthcare and medical technology challenges. As the first competition of its kind in the country, it offers a national platform for interdisciplinary collaboration, hands-on innovation, and industry engagement, fostering academic excellence and practical impact in the biomedical field.

Founded by the Western Biomedical Engineering Club (WE BMC) in 2025 the initiative combines local leadership with national reach to create a competitive yet supportive environment that elevates undergraduate talent and drives meaningful advancements in healthcare technology.
