Wellness Workshop Series
The Wellness Workshop Series is the Faculty of Engineering's commitment to providing opportunities for the growth and development of our students. In recognizing the multifaceted challenges and demands that engineering students encounter throughout their academic journey, the series has been designed to focus on enhancing emotional intelligence.
The Wellness Workshop Series touches on a variety of topics such as; emotional well-being, leadership, cognitive resilience, communication, and conflict resolution, which are crucial skills for their personal, academic, and professional life. The workshop series is designed to support students to be able to navigate the challenges of their academic journey with resilience, to grow as capable and compassionate individuals.

Info: Sara Hanna will present a session on Burnout Prevention – Developing a Positive Psychology Stress Mindset. This session will explore the habits and challenges of modern society. Then, using theory and practice from positive psychology, we will look at how a better understanding of our physiological responses to stress, can help us turn it from a liability into a resource. This session will explore and provide concrete strategies for self-care and resilience in the face of daily challenges and stress. The information is research informed, readily available, and is grounded in wise practices
Managing Stress & Anxiety During Exams

Sara, B.S.W., M.S.W., R.S.W., is a Registered Social Worker with the OCSWSSW. She has experience providing counselling services to young adults in educational settings, as well as in her private practice. Sara is well versed in the wide spectrum of pressures and academic demands that post-secondary students face. Sara’s therapeutic approach is highly relational and strength-based, as she believes that connection is integral for healing. Yet, she also draws on CBT, Self-Compassion, Solution-Focused therapy, and internal family systems therapies, among others. Due to her interdisciplinary nature, she further integrates science by offering psychoeducation on the role of the brain and the impact of balanced thinking.

Leading Difficult Conversations - Conflict Resolution

Presenter: Corrine Walsh, MA, LLM Principal, Platinum Leadership Inc.
Corinne serves as a strategic partner for leaders, teams, and organizations, generating solutions and actions that propel them to excellence. As a change leader, coach, strategist, and facilitator, Corinne helps leaders build strong organizations by aligning their leadership, strategy, vision, and culture. Corinne also serves as adjunct faculty with King’s University College and Continuing Studies at Western University. She holds a Masters degree in Law, Master and Bachelor of Arts degrees, a Diploma in Adult Education, and Certificates in Business Administration, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Planning, and Evaluation. She is a qualified administrator of Tilt 365 and MBTI tools, and is completing ORSCC and PCC-level accreditation with the International Coach Federation.

Since 1992 Andy has delivered thousands of fun presentations to schools and conferences across North America. Millions of people have seen him speak in all 10 provinces, the Yukon, and 40 US states.
Andy has lived his entire life in London, Ontario. He completed his History degree on the dean’s honour list at King's College at Western. In university Andy was an orientation week leader for three years, including being the orientation week coordinator or head soph in his final year. He was named the most spirited graduate of the class of 1993. In 2014 he was named the Alumni of the Year for King’s University, with only 25 winners so far in the history of his school. Andy is the father to two amazing daughters.

Yet people earn the trust of another by being reliable. In “Can I Count You”, I offer useful and immediately applicable advice for improving reliability. Through these insights, I demonstrate how increased reliability improves one's time management, creates successful events, prepares students for success in class and the workplace, and inspires TRUST in you as a leader!

Emotional Intelligence and Psychological Safety in Engineering
