Banner image featuring the title 'Where Ideas Take Shape' with supporting text: 'Explore the innovation behind UMS's most exciting projects — from custom components to large-scale industrial systems. See what our team has built, engineered, and brought to life.' The background includes diagonal image tiles showing machinery, 3D-printed parts, and shop equipment, with a purple dotted pattern on the right.
These are lab scale stirred digester systems used for wastewater research. They allow for a collection of processes by which microorganisms break down biodegradable material in the absence of oxygen.
To recreate hurricane-force winds in the lab, the researchers use a complicated system of fans that simulate the same suction forces that can peel roofs off buildings during severe storms.
These stainless-steel pilot plant digesters were developed for TMU in collaboration with an industrial partner. Designed to support process scale-up, the units feature precise temperature control and were engineered and manufactured by UMS to meet large-scale research and industrial needs.
Designed and manufactured for an industrial partner, this small reactor is capable of heating and cooling at pressure, all while mechanically mixing the biomass.
This is an image of a sample pot created to pour liquids with more ease
This is a reactor capable of mixing at extremely high temperatures, and is used for the manufacturing and research of bio char and associated fuels. It is a continuous feed micro-reactor as opposed to a batch reactor.
This one of a kind Super Panner is used as a particle clarifier in the mining industry. It is a unique innovation made by UMS machinists to precision.
An active grid in a wind tunnel is a device that generates controlled turbulence by dynamically adjusting the position of individual elements within a grid. This allows researchers to create various turbulent flow conditions.
This is a pilot plant system manufactured for an industrial partner. It allows for the studying of process and particle flow in the system. The information collected is used to design and modify much larger full scale reactor system.
