Welcome to the Research Office website. Please take a moment to explore our site to learn more about the leading-edge research our faculty members are currently undertaking.

My name is Miriam Capretz and I joined Western Engineering in 2000 as a professor in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering. I was appointed the Associate Dean, Research in 2016 and my first term as Associate Dean, Research started in July 1, 2017. I was recently re-appointed and have now started my second term.

Our faculty members conduct leading-edge research in topical areas that benefit society. Areas of special expertise include: energy, biomedical applications of mechatronics, natural disaster mitigation and management, water technologies, nanotechnology, and much more. Students at the undergraduate and graduate level benefit from this knowledge, as faculty members draw from their research to teach in our classrooms. To explore the different areas or research that our faculty members specialize in, please visit our research website.

The Western Engineering Research Office is committed to supporting faculty members as they endeavor to pioneer with their research. We are also able to bridge the link between faculty members and industry. If you have any questions about Research in Western Engineering, you can contact me at mcapretz@uwo.ca.
