Western Engineering welcomes four new faculty members

Western Engineering is pleased to announce that on July 1, 2017, four new faculty members joined the team.

Dr. Ryan Willing and Dr. Haojie Mao both joined the Department of Mechanical & Materials Engineering.

Dr. Willing completed both his BScE and his PhD in Mechanical Engineering at Queen's University. His research interests focus on design, development of computation models and simulations, experimental validation of computational models, design of biomedical devices, design optimization, impact of biomechanics and multiobjective design optimization.

Dr. Haojie is joining us as Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Head Mechanics.  He completed his BSc in Mechanical Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and his PhD in Biomedical Engineering and Biomechanics at Wayne State University. His research interest are in brain biomechanics and head/brain injury research.

Dr. Katarina Grolinger and Dr. Pirathayini Srikantha joined the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering on July 1.

Dr. Grolinger completed her BSc in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Zagreb, Croatia and both her Masters and PhD in Software Engineering at Western.  Katarina's research interests focus on Internet of Things, sensor data analytics, Big Data analytics, distributed computing, data management, NoSQL and NewSQL databases.

Dr. Srikantha completed her BASc in Systems Design Engineering and her Masters in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Waterloo and her PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Toronto.  Pirathayini’s research interests focus on distributed methods that enable sustainable, economical and resilient operations in the modern power grid.
