Timusk goes the extra mile

Western Engineering News | June 6, 2016
Ingrid Timusk, one of this year’s recipients of the the Engineering Award of Recognition, is being honoured for going the extra mile in her role as the Undergraduate Affairs Coordinator for the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering — a position she excelled at for three years. Timusk has recently taken on a new role at the Ivey Business School.
Her dedication to helping undergraduate students was admirable. Many described Timusk as polite, patient and professional. Shahzad Barghi, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, commented on the impact of Timusk’s work. “Ingrid is a very passionate and dedicated individual who enthusiastically goes the extra mile beyond her duties to help others in the best way she can,” he said.
The Engineering Award of Recognition is presented annually to individuals or teams who have made an exceptional contribution in the past year to help further the academic, research and innovation, public service and administrative missions of the faculty.
“I was completely surprised when I found out I won the Engineering Award of Recognition,” said Timusk. “I feel great pride to have been part of a team that would take the time to honor their colleagues and peers in the workplace.”
Colleagues describe Timusk as incredibly knowledgeable in providing support and information regarding all types of undergraduate matters. Her contributions to the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering were exceptional.
“The Faculty of Engineering is working very hard to create an environment of excellence and mutual respect,” explained Timusk. “I certainly felt that through and through when I learned my time in CBE was worthy of being recognized — it is something I will take with me throughout the years to come.”
Timusk will receive the Engineering Award of Recognition at the Western Engineering Faculty and Staff Awards Lunch on June 22.
