James Lacefield presents Frugal Biomedical Innovations' vision for future of global MedTech
James Lacefield, Western Engineering professor and director of the School of Biomedical Engineering, spoke at the 13th Academia Public Private Partnership Forum for the Inter-University Council for East Africa's to present Frugal Biomedical Innovations' vision for the future of global medical technology.
The forum, which was held in Kigali, Rwanda, on the theme “Fostering Innovation and Entrepreneurship through University—Industry Partnerships for East Africa’s Sustainable Future," brought together academia, the private sector and governments to deliberate on how to foster joint dialogue and enhance the linkage between the private sector and higher education institutions.
Lacefield presented some of the work Western University is doing through the Frugal Biomedical Innovations program in Africa and underlined the program's commitment to co-creatively finding solutions to complex problems through community-led frugal innovation.
