Professor El Damatty inducted as EIC Fellow

The Engineering Institute of Canada (EIC) announced recently that Professor Ashraf El Damatty, Chair of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Western has been inducted as an EIC Fellow. The Council of the Institute has, since 1963, elected annually to the grade of Fellow a number of engineers in recognition of their excellence in engineering and their exceptional contributions to the profession and to society.

“It is my great honour to be inducted as fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada,” said Professor El Damatty.  “During the past twenty years, I had the opportunity to serve the Canadian Society of Civil Engineers in various capacities. I was also fortunate to work with many bright graduate students on research projects that have influenced the engineering practice, not only within Canada but also internationally. This fellowship is a wonderful recognition for all my efforts and accomplishments”
