Extra-curricular activities are a great way to socialise and put your free time to good use. I joined a lot of clubs. I was the captain of my intermural soccer team, the VP relations on the WSCE, a lead for breaks in Baja.

Do you remember when you decided you wanted to pursue engineering? What sparked your interest?

I’ve always been fascinated with the way things work. Looking outside and seeing massive structures being built or aircrafts suspended in the sky fuelled my ambition as a kid. I’ve always viewed myself as somewhat of having creative mindset. Engineering provided an innovative and appliable way to project my thought into real things.

How do you manage school-related stress?

I love being outside and playing sports. I found that participating in some extra-curricular activities like intermural soccer helps take my mind off school for a bit. It also keeps you fit and is good way to engage in social interactions. Studying with friends is another option I enjoy when I’ve got work to do and I’m a little stressed. Overall time managements skills are the most important, so you don’t overload yourself with work.

What is your favourite quote?

I’m going to cheat a little and tell you my 2 favourite quotes. The first one is “The most important step you take is your next one.” I like this quote because it helps you focus on the things ahead of you and reminds you that there’s always a next step. The 2nd is “Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world”. This one reminds you that anything is possible if you have ambition.

Favourite study spot on campus?

My favourite study spot on campus is in Amit-Chakma engineering building. ACEB is a beautiful building. I enjoy booking meeting rooms to study with my friends but, whenever I do want a bit more focused study time, I sneak into the Thompson Engineering building across.

Can you talk about your extra-curricular activities at Western (clubs, teams, volunteer work, outreach activities, athletics etc.)? Why would you encourage students to get involved in extracurricular activities at Western Engineering?

Extra-curricular activities are a great way to socialise and put your free time to good use. I joined a lot of clubs. I was the captain of my intermural soccer team, the VP relations on the WSCE, a lead for breaks in Baja. I’m in WECCA and a member of steel bridge and I volunteer as an ASP peer leader. I can say that I’ve networked with a lot of different people and gained experiences that I never knew I needed. Western provides a good balance between academic and extracurricular activities.

What is success to you?

Success to me can be defined as doing the best you can with the resources you’ve got. I see it as putting your skills/special talents to use to serve other people and being a blessing to society. I view success as being a good person who works hard.
