“Student teams at Western Engineering have helped me bridge the gap between classroom theory and real‑world application.”
Daniel Weppler
Mechanical Engineering and AISE
Engineering students who graduate with EL experience
“Experiential Learning has shown me that your education is more than the classes you take; it's also the experiences outside the classroom that shape how you learn”
Lilly Brydon
Chemical Engineering and HBA
Experiential Learning emphasizes and acknowledges that everyone learns in different ways. The nine Experiential Learning Styles — Experiencing, Imagining, Reflecting, Analyzing, Thinking, Deciding, Acting, Initiating, and Balancing — highlight the different ways individuals learn and live.
Understanding how you learn most effectively is a powerful way to get to know yourself better and prepare for the future. A flexible learner is someone who can use all nine learning styles effectively and appropriately as situations arise.
Learning styles also help us understand others better. When you are aware of how you learn and how others learn, it becomes easier to collaborate, solve problems, and build strong, long-lasting relationships — even with people who think and learn differently from you.
