Western Engineering’s Commitment to EDID

Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Decolonization (EDID) in Western Engineering is about creating a learning and working environment where everyone feels welcome, respected and able to thrive. Guided by Western’s EDIDA Strategic Plan and the work of the Engineering EDID Committee, we are committed to addressing systemic barriers, honouring Indigenous rights and knowledges, and supporting equity-deserving students, staff and faculty across all of our programs, research and community partnerships.

In a move toward inclusivity and cultural recognition, Western Engineering has introduced an Indigenous Engineering logo, symbolizing the faculty's commitment to embracing diverse perspectives and fostering meaningful connections with Indigenous communities Read more about the Indigenous Engineering logo.

EDIDA Strategic Plan

Our work is aligned with Western’s university-wide EDIDA Strategic Plan, which outlines institutional priorities for equity, diversity, and inclusion. Western Engineering has also adopted official Guidelines for Respectful and Inclusive Behaviour which outlines actionable steps and expectations for creating a supportive academic community.
