Meet the Student Machine Shop team located at the Claudette MacKay-Lassonde Pavilion Building, Room 54, Western University.

The Student Machine Shop provides facilities and expertise in numerous prototyping processes that help students implement their designs as functional parts and assemblies. Students are guided through processes and techniques ranging from manual fabrication to multi-axis CNC, both subtractive and additive.

Engineering Communications (EC): If you could visit any place in the world, where would it be, and what would you do there?

Duane Jacques:  I'd like to dive a site on the migratory path of giant manta rays and capture some print-worthy images. That would be the perfect blend of my two hobbies, SCUBA and photography.

EC: What do you enjoy most about your work at Western Engineering?

Alex Nutting: With my background in tool and die making, I love introducing students to the practical, hands-on side of engineering. It's rewarding to watch them bring raw ideas to life through collaboration in the workshop, knowing they'll carry those skills for a lifetime.
