Liquefaction Triggering and Instability of Mine Tailings
In collaboration with OCE VIP II & Golder Associates
The goal is to develop a comprehensive technique for liquefaction triggering analysis of mine tailings (primarily gold tailings). The outcome will improve the safety of mine tailings dams in Ontario.  
Clients:  Golder, the primary people are Peter Merry and Michael Etezad.  

Stability of Oil Sand Tailings Subject to Saturation
In collaboration with Thurber Engineering/CNR/Imperial Oil/NSERC CRD
The goal is to examine the static liquefaction potential of oil sand tailings subject to saturation by a rainfall or raised water level.
The main partners in this project is Ian Gidley (from Thurber) and Scott Martens (from Canadian Natural Resources).
