R.M. Quigley Award - Terms of Reference

This award was set up from retained contract earnings of the Geotechnical Research Centre and is named after Dr. R.M. Quigley the founding director of the Geotechnical Research Centre and a distinguished Canadian Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineer. It will normally be awarded annually to an engineer or scientist to pursue graduate studies in Geotechnical Engineering at the University of Western Ontario.

The recipient will be chosen by the executive members of the Geotechnical Research Centre and approved by the Graduate Affairs Committee of the Faculty of Engineering Science. Special consideration will be taken of a candidate's academic, professional and general contributions to the engineering professional and general contributions to the engineering profession.

Preference will be given to candidates who are Canadian citizens or landed immigrants but with consideration to visa students well advanced in their studies at Western. The Award will normally be held for one year, but may, under special circumstances be extended for a second year.
