 Mechanical Engineering

Sara Holland is currently pursuing an M.E.Sc in Mechanical and Materials Engineering at Western University. She received her B.E.Sc degree in Mechanical and Materials Engineering from Western University in April 2017 and joined the Human Biomechanics Laboratory in May 2017. Her thesis proposal is based on the hand forces produced in golfers with and without hand arthritis using a new commercially available wearable sensor technology. The primary goal of this project is to determine the type of grip that produces the most amount of force in a player’s hand and to design a new type of grip to allow golfers with arthritis to continue to play and to potentially decrease the risk of younger players developing hand arthritis.
