Why did you choose software engineering?

I chose Software Engineering because of my first-year programming course. Western’s general first year courses allow you to experience and explore all disciplines, ensuring you are informed about the program before you dive into it. I had no prior programming experience, so the first-year course was an enlightening introduction to the world of software engineering.

Why Western Engineering?

I chose Western Engineering for the program’s engaged community. It fosters an interconnected and inviting atmosphere which I knew would help me with my transition into university as an out of province student.

Can you talk about the benefits of a Dual Degree in Ivey?

The technical skills you acquire in engineering combined with the business perspective that Ivey provides makes the Dual Degree very advantageous. Personally, I have always wanted to enter the business world, but the dual with software engineering allows me to “speak both languages” in an increasingly technologized world. The dual degree arms you with a competitive advantage in whichever field you choose to enter and is also one of the most time-efficient offerings available to those who want to pursue both sides.

How do you manage school-related stress?

In order to manage school related stress, or stress in general, I like to make granular lists and schedules. It helps me focus my mind on the task at hand, rather than thinking about the countless other things I have to get done.

What is your favourite book, movie or TV show?

My favorite TV series of all time is Peaky Blinders. Check it out on Netflix. 100%.

What is your favourite quote?

“Scientists investigate that which already is; Engineers create that which has never been”
