Why Western Engineering?

Western Engineering stood out to me because of its supportive community and the flexibility of first year. I liked that I could explore different areas of engineering before choosing my discipline. The opportunities outside the classroom, from design teams to leadership roles, made it feel like a place where I could grow both academically and personally.

What do you do in your spare time?

In my spare time, I like messing around with my DJ kit, playing the drums, staying active by playing sports, trying new foods, and spending time cooking. I also enjoy hanging out with friends, whether that’s exploring new places, grabbing something to eat, or just relaxing. It’s a great way to unwind and maintain a good balance outside of engineering.

Can you talk about your extracurricular activities at Western (clubs, teams,
volunteer work, outreach activities, athletics, etc.)? Why would you encourage
students to get involved in extracurricular activities at Westen Engineering?

I’m part of the Squad Captain team within the Western Schulich Leaders community and a member of the Western Innovation & Entrepreneurship Club. These experiences have helped me develop leadership, teamwork, and communication skills while meeting people with similar interests. I’d encourage every student to get involved because it’s a great way to make friends, build new skills, and make the most of your time at Western Engineering.

Why did you choose your specific stream of engineering?

I chose Mechatronics Engineering because I enjoy solving problems that combine mechanics, electronics, and programming. I like that it brings different fields together to create practical solutions. The variety keeps things interesting and gives me the chance to work on projects that have a real-world impact.

What is your favourite book, movie or TV show?

My favourite movie is Interstellar. It’s one of those movies I never get tired of watching. The story, soundtrack, and visuals are all amazing, and every time I watch it I pick up on something I missed before.

Who do you look up to/admire and why?

The people I look up to most are my parents. They’re both incredibly hard-working and have always led by example. They’ve taught me the value of putting in your best effort, staying humble, and persevering through challenges. They’ve always supported me, encouraged me to keep learning, and shaped the person I am today.
