Why Western Engineering?

I have always loved math and science and knew I wanted to be an engineer but couldn’t decide on a field. Western Engineering’s general first year let me explore disciplines through classes and clubs, helping me make the best decision, I even changed my mind three times! I also discovered the Western UES Instagram and all the exciting activities, clubs, and events made me even more eager to join this community.

What do you do in your spare time?

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, watching movies, listening to podcasts, and spending time with friends.

What was your orientation week experience like as a first-year student?

Unfortunately, due to personal reasons, I arrived at school in late September and missed orientation week. However, I was still able to meet new people and attend many events throughout my first year, since there’s always something happening at Western.

Why did you choose your specific stream of engineering?

I chose Electrical Engineering because I’m fascinated by how electricity powers the world around us, from everyday devices to large-scale systems. I also enjoy problem-solving, working with circuits, and applying math and physics to create practical solutions.

What is your favourite book, movie or TV show?

My favourite book is Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. I have probably read this book every year since I turned fifteen.

Who do you look up to/admire and why?

I admire my parents because of their resilience and unwavering support. They have shown me the importance of hard work, integrity, and perseverance, even in difficult times.
