Why Western Engineering?
I chose Western not only for its strong academics, but also because it offers countless opportunities to explore my potential and grow. Western provides the resources needed to ensure an accessible, inclusive, and enjoyable learning journey. With a challenging program like engineering, I value how Western balances academic excellence with community and personal development.
What do you do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I enjoy arts and handcrafts, especially painting with acrylics and oils. I also love cooking and experimenting with new recipes, as well as spending time outdoors, exploring new places, and sharing quality moments with friends and family. Additionally, I find it fun to volunteer with organizations, as it helps me meet new people, expand my connections, and grow through new social experiences.
What was your orientation week experience like as a first-year student?
O-Week was exciting and full of energy! I loved meeting classmates and upper years who became great resources. As an off-campus student, it helped me build connections beyond engineering. The Sophs were amazing, supporting me not just during O-Week but throughout the year, making my transition to university so much smoother.
Why did you choose your specific stream of engineering?
I’ve always loved building and fixing things, and over time I realized I thrive in hands-on work more than behind a desk. This passion naturally drew me to engineering. In high school, I explored it further through the robotics club and an auto repair class. I’m excited to create, innovate, and contribute to projects that make a real impact.
What is your favourite book, movie, or TV show?
My favourite novel is Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. I read it at the age of 13, and it really affected me. It taught me that life can take unexpected turns, but with patience and determination, we can overcome challenges and grow stronger — lessons I carry with me every day.
Who do you look up to/admire and why?
I admire my dad for dedicating his life to our family, sacrificing so much to give us a bright future. He dreamed of seeing us succeed at top universities and worked tirelessly to make that possible. Despite many challenges, he created a happy, healthy life for us. I hope to work as hard as he does and make him proud.
