Why Western Engineering?
Western Engineering combines strong academics, supportive community, and design team opportunities with unique dual degree pathways like Ivey or AISE. The flexible first year let me explore before specializing, and the co-op program provides real-world experience, making it the right place for both technical and personal growth.
What do you do in your spare time?
I enjoy weight training, basketball, intramural sports, and playing guitar. I’m part of the rocketry team, which lets me apply engineering skills outside class. I also like building computers and spending time with friends and family.
What was your orientation week experience like as a first-year student?
Orientation week made the transition from high school almost seamless. The events helped me meet classmates and mentors, while club fairs made it easy to get involved. It gave me a strong sense of belonging and showed how supportive the community is.
Why did you choose your specific stream of engineering?
I chose electrical engineering because I enjoy exploring how systems connect and power technology. I like building mini projects such as flight computers for rockets and designing circuit boards, and this stream gives me the foundation to push those interests further.
What is your favourite book, movie or TV show?
My favorite TV show is Breaking Bad. I like how it shows problem-solving under pressure and the importance of resourcefulness. The characters take creative approaches to complex situations, which reminds me of how engineers think critically to overcome challenges.
Who do you look up to/admire and why?
I admire my parents for their resilience and commitment to family. They sacrificed to give me opportunities they didn’t have, and their work ethic inspires me to stay disciplined, value community, and use my education to make an impact.
