Why Western Engineering?

When applying to various universities across Ontario, Western Engineering stood out to me primarily for the plethora of dual degree options, pairing an Engineering discipline with Business (Ivey), Biomedical, Artificial Intelligence, and more! I was also drawn to Western Engineering due to it’s anticipated familial community, where an emphasis is placed on the notion of, “We’re all in this together!”

What do you do in your spare time?

When I am not studying or doing academic related tasks, I enjoy playing, watching, and coaching soccer. Also engaging in other physical activities at the Recreational Center at Western such as Volleyball, Tennis, and Gym. When I am not doing these activities, I will be playing the piano or Saxophone, going on runs, or trying out to food places across London!

What was your orientation week experience like as a first-year student?

So Fun! My O-Week was one of my favourite times on campus. I was able to meet a lot of amazing people who I consider my friends today. The events run by the USC allowed me to really understand the warm and outgoing culture at Western and helped me integrate into this wonderful community. On Faculty Day, I was given a very strong, memorable and useful introduction to the life of an engineering student at Western, where I felt welcomed and excited to pursue my degree across the next few years.

Why did you choose your specific stream of engineering?

I chose Civil Engineering because of the various streams within the faculty that are offered. Civil Engineering at Western University is very flexible and versatile in terms of fine details, allowing you to tailor your experience in the ways you seek! Whether you want to study Environmental or Structural, Civil Engineering at Western has a place for everyone!  (P.S check out the Wind Tunnel)

What is your favourite book, movie or TV show?

I’ve recently been enjoying Severance (TV Show) and the Dune series (books)!

Who do you look up to/admire and why?

I admire individuals who constantly seek to help others and better those around them through various mediums of their life. Whether that’s academically, socially, or emotionally. These individuals include some of my professors, both my parents, and bosses/sports coaches I’ve worked under in the past.
