Why Western Engineering?

One of the best things about Western Engineering is the community. Our faculty is filled with so much diversity and different backgrounds, everyone has a place here. There are so many opportunities within the program to meet other people – like clubs, build teams, and events. Some of my favourite memories from the past few years have been meeting so many people in different extracurriculars!

What do you do in your spare time?

In my spare time, I like to discover new foods and try different cafes! I also enjoy spending time outside, going on walks or hikes and finding new trails in my city.

What was your orientation week experience like as a first-year student?

My experiences during orientation week were some of my most memorable moments from university! I met many other engineering students and learned about all the different opportunities at Western. Like building teams, clubs, co-ops, and so many more. I also felt included during all the events and felt like that was the first time I found my place within engineering.

Why did you choose your specific stream of engineering?

I am doing a dual degree in Chemical Engineering and Artificial Intelligence. I chose chemical engineering because I have a passion for working in the environmental industry or for helping large companies reach their climate goals. I am also really interested in programming and how Artificial Intelligence can be used to improve regular manufacturing processes, so I am excited to see where these two degrees can take me and my career!

What is your favourite book, movie or TV show?

My favourite movie is Avengers: Infinity War!

Who do you look up to/admire and why?

I admire a lot of the upper years I have met throughout my first and second years because of how welcoming they were and how much they mentored me in this program. They have all had a significant impact on my life!
