Dr. Fang Fang received a Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada, in 2017. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Department of Computer Science at Western University, Canada.

Prior to joining Western University, she was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Engineering at Durham University, UK, from 2020 to 2022. In addition, she was a Research Associate in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Manchester, UK, from 2018 to 2020. Her current research interests focus on quantum computing and optimization, AI-native wireless communications, trustworthy networks, edge AI, and distributed learning. Her research also encompasses semantic communications, reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS), multi-access edge computing (MEC), and emerging technologies for intelligent 6G and beyond networks.

Dr. Fang has served as General Chair of EAI GameNets 2022, Publications Chair of IEEE VTC 2023-Fall, and Symposium Chair of IEEE GLOBECOM 2023, IEEE VTC 2024-Spring, and IEEE ICC 2025. She currently serves as an Editor for IEEE Transactions on Communications, IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, and IEEE Communications Letters. She previously served as an Associate Editor for IEEE Open Journal of the Communications Society. She is also the Chair of the IEEE London Section (2026–2027) and Vice Chair of the IEEE SPCC Technical Committee. Dr. Fang received the IEEE SPCC Early Achievement Award (2023) and the Western Engineering Junior Faculty Award for Excellence in Research (2024). She was also recognized with the Exemplary Reviewer Certificates from IEEE Transactions on Communications in 2017 and 2021 and the Exemplary Editor Certificates from IEEE Open Journal of the Communications Society in 2021 and 2023.
