ECE PhD Candidate Recipient of the 2019 SWAAC Graduate Award of Merit

Congratulations go out to Elena Uchieteleva. Elena has been named one of the recipients of the 2019 Senior Women Academic Administrators of Canada Graduate Award of Merit. Available in Ontario once every four years, recipients of this prestigeous award are women graduate students who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in the university or general community while maintaining exemplary academic records.Please follow this link for more details.

Ion Inculet Award Recipient for 2018
The ECE Department would like to extend congratulations to Riley Bloomfield, who is this year's recipient of the Ion Inculet PhD Award in Engineering. Professor Ion Inculet was born in Romania and immigrated to Canada in 1947. He was educated as an Electrical Engineer. He retired, after 47 years, from Western’s Faculty of Engineering, as Professor Emeritus. He was Director of the Applied Electrostatics Research Centre, and an internationally renowned Inventor (27 patents), Researcher, and Academician. Professor Inculet died in 2011 at the age of 90. Each year an outstanding Ph.D. candidate in Electrical & Computer Engineering is selected to receive this award in his memory. 

Seeing Modern Agriculture in a New Light
Jayshri Sabarinathan and her research group have used their experience with microsensors and nanofabrication to develop higher-performing multi-spectral cameras for agricultural monitoring in collaboration with industry partner A&L Canada Labs. Please follow this link for more details.
