Western Engineering Outreach is excited to announce a new offering for Spring 2026! Based on popular demand, we are offering on-campus field trip opportunities for Grade 7-8 classes between June 8 and June 19. During the field trip, students will be exposed to various disciplines of engineering by rotating between hands-on STEM stations.

Our field trips run from 10:00am to 1:00pm. This experiential learning opportunity welcomes students to Western University's main campus and provides a glimpse into a day-in-the-life of an engineering student. We invite students to pack their lunches and eat together in a designated lunch space.

Field Trip Descriptions

We invite your Grade 7 and Grade 8 classes to Western's Faculty of Engineering to do hands-on engineering activities inside real-life engineering classrooms! Students will experience what it's like to think, design, and problem-solve like an engineer by participating in three hands-on activities:

Our goals are for students to be immersed in experiential learning, gain exposure to a university setting, foster curiosity about engineering and STEM disciplines.

Cost

These field trip opportunities cost $500 for up to 60 students. Please reach out to discover@uwo.ca for questions.

Bursaries

Bursaries covering 85% of the cost of the workshop may be available for schools serving youth facing socio-economic challenges or otherwise serving youth under-represented in STEM.  Please email discover@uwo.ca to see if you qualify for a bursary. While we aim to fill as many requests as possible, bursaries are limited.

Cancellation Policy

A 20% non-refundable administrative fee is applied to all cancellations made at least 10 business days prior to the in-school workshop. All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to discover@uwo.ca. Cancellations requested less than 10 business days prior to the in-school workshop date will not be issued any refund. No refunds will be made in the event of the university or school closure.
