Western Engineering Outreach promotes awareness of science and engineering to children and youth in London and surrounding areas through a variety of specialized programs within the Faculty of Engineering at Western University.  

Each year we hire dedicated instructors who are excited to share their love of STEM! We have opportunities for Western students throughout the year and high school instructors during the summer months. 

All jobs are listed on Western's “Working at Western” careers page. Our Senior Instructor positions are typically posted in February and our Junior Instructor positions (for high school students) are typically posted in March.

Volunteer Position: Summer Camp Support Team

If you’re looking for a hands-on way to get involved in STEM education, build professional skills, and experience what it’s like behind the scenes of a busy STEM summer camp; this role is for you!

Western Engineering Outreach is seeking enthusiastic and reliable volunteers to join our Summer Camp Team. Volunteers help our instructors keep daily operations running smoothly by greeting campers and families, delivering supplies between rooms, organizing and resetting spaces, and assisting with material prep and packing. While volunteers don’t work directly with campers, they’re an essential part of ensuring our camps are safe, organized, and fun for everyone.

Commitment:

  • One full camp week (Monday–Friday, Approx 8:00 AM–4:00 PM; some four-day weeks)
  • Full-Week availability required

 

You’ll be great in this role if you:

  • Are a high school student (Grade 10+) or university student
  • Are punctual, organized, and enjoy helping behind the scenes
  • Work well in a team and communicate clearly
  • Have an interest in STEM, education, or leadership

 

An up-to-date Vulnerable Sector Check is required. Volunteers receive on-site training and support throughout their placement & volunteer hours.
