We are the Optimized Computing and Communications (OC2) Laboratory.

The lab was established in 2004 within the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Western. Our offices are located in the Thompson and Spencer Engineering building on Western’s main campus. Since the The OC2 Lab’s inception, we have built an international reputation for strong contributions to both academic and industrial research.

Our current research is focused in the areas of Network Virtualization, Cloud Computing and Big Data challenges. We work in parallel on problems related to 5G Networks, Software Defined Networks, and Energy Efficiency in Computation and Communications. The OCLab has ongoing collaborations with major national and international Telecom Companies and Federal Research Organizations.

The lab is established and directed by Prof. Abdallah Shami. Currently, there are more than 15 graduate students and 5 Post-Doctoral Fellows working in the OC2 Lab.
