Combined MEng-GDip Option

Faculty of Engineering offers a Combined Master of Engineering (MEng) – Graduate Diploma (GDip) in Engineering Leadership and Innovation. It is a 4-term (16 months) program where students concurrently take courses in both MEng and GDip programs. Students registered in this option must complete the requirements for both MEng and GDip programs. Once completed, students receive MEng degree and Graduate Diploma.

Students registered in any technical field of the MEng program in the Faculty of Engineering could opt for this option as this option does not affect or alter the technical course requirements of a particular MEng technical field.

The process to register in the Combined MEng-GDip Option is outlined below for both New Applicants and Current Students.

 New Applicants:

  1. At the point of application, applicants must first select the MEng program in which they are interested studying. In the application form, an option is available to choose the Combined MEng-GDip. Within this option, applicants can also identify which MEng specialization they are interested in.
  2. Applications are first reviewed by the Department to which the applicants have applied for the MEng degree. Only those applicants who are considered eligible for admission to the MEng program are then assessed for their admission eligibility to the GDip program.
  3. Applicants who meet the admission requirements of both MEng and GDip progams are offered admission to the Combined MEng-GDip program.
  4. If an applicant who has applied for the Combined program and the Department decides not to offer admission to the MEng program, their applications are then assessed for the GDip only program. If they meet the requirements then they are offered admission to the GDip program.

Current MEng Students:

  1. Current MEng students who are interested in pursuing the Combined MEng-GDip option will be required to submit the MEng Change of Status form to the home department, no later than the end of the first month of the second term of registration in their regular MEng program.
  2. The applications are then assessed for their eligibility to admission in the GDip program. Once, approved, the students are transferred to the Combined MEng-GDip option. SGPS issues a new offer letter listing the new duration of the program of study (4 terms or 16 months). International students could use this revised offer letter to apply for the extension of ther study permit.
