Congratulations to Dr. Amarjeet Bassi on being elected Vice-President of the Canadian Society for Chemical Engineering (CSChE) for 2013-14

Dr. Amarjeet Bassi was elected Vice-President of the Canadian Society for Chemical Engineering (CSChE) for 2013-14. Consequently, he will be President of the CSChE for 2014-15. The Canadian Society for Chemical Engineering (CSChE) is the  national professional association that represents chemical engineering professionals  working in industry and academia and chemical engineering undergraduate and graduate  students across Canada. The CSChE  is a constituent member society of  the Chemical Institute of Canada (CIC) which also includes the Canadian Society for Chemistry (CSC) and the Canadian Society for Chemical Technology (CSCT).

Congratulations to Dr. Jesse Zhu on receiving the Ontario Professional Engineers Engineering Medal - Research & Development Award

The Engineering Medal recognizes professional engineers who have improved our quality of life through the ingenious application of their engineering skills. Recipients' achievements are significantly above the normally high standards of the profession. (more)  

Congratulations to Dr. Franco Berruti on being named recipient of the AIChE 2013 Lectureship in Fluidization Award

The American Institute of Chemical Engineers has named Dr. Franco Berruti the recipient of 2013 Lectureship in Fluidization Award, under the Particle Technology Forum. This award, sponsored by Particulate Solid Research, Inc., recognizes an individual's outstanding scientific/technical research contributions with impact in the field of fluidization and fluid-particle flow systems. (more)  

CBE Graduate Seminar Series 2013-2014 announces “Speaker of the  Month” for December 2013

The Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering has introduced a new format for the Graduate Seminars for the year 2013-2014.  The seminars are organized by a graduate committee comprising of graduate students and every seminar is also chaired by a graduate student (other than for  invited external speakers). We are pleased to announce the first winner of the “Speaker of the Month” for December. The winner is Tierney Deluzio who presented her seminar on the topic “Cyclodextrin Inclusion Compounds for Improving Oxygen Delivery for Tissue Engineering Scaffolds”.

Presented by the Canadian Society for Chemical Engineering for exceptional achievement to the field of chemical engineering or industrial chemistry while residing in Canada, the R.S. Jane Memorial Award is the CSChE's highest award. (more)
