Published in the Journal of the Royal Society of Chemistry!!
Congratulations to Prof. Ying Zheng and the research team on the publication of their review article, “Atomic/Molecular Layer Deposition Strategies for Enhanced CO₂ Capture, Utilisation, and Storage Materials,” in Chemical Society Reviews, a leading journal of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC).
The review, authored by Joshua O. Olowoyo, Vahid Shahed Gharahshiran, Yimin Zeng, Yang Zhao, and Ying Zheng, provides a comprehensive overview of how atomic layer deposition (ALD) and molecular layer deposition (MLD) can be used to precisely engineer advanced materials for CO₂ capture, separation, utilisation, conversion, and sensing.
The article highlights several ALD/MLD strategies—including ultrathin modification, overcoating, interlayer coating, area-selective deposition, and template-assisted approaches—and discusses how atomic-level control of material structure can enhance catalytic activity, selectivity, and stability. Applications span electrochemical, photocatalytic, photoelectrochemical, and thermocatalytic CO₂ conversion.
This work demonstrates the growing potential of atomic-scale materials engineering to address challenges in carbon management and support the development of more efficient and sustainable technologies for CO₂ capture and conversion.
Congratulations to all the authors on this outstanding publication!
