Welcome to the Intensified Catalysis Research Group (IntensiCAT)
The Intensified Catalysis Research Group (IntensiCAT), led by Prof. Ying Zheng, develops advanced catalysts and innovative chemical processes to address challenges in clean energy, sustainable chemical production, carbon utilization, and resource recovery.
Our research combines catalysis, reaction engineering, materials science, and process intensification, with a strong emphasis on understanding catalyst structure, surface chemistry, reaction mechanisms, and their relationships with catalytic performance. Our Research Focuses:
- Advanced Catalysis & Process Intensification: Design of catalysts and intensified processes for efficient chemical transformations.
- Hydrotreating & Hydrodeoxygenation (HDO): Upgrading biomass-derived feedstocks into sustainable fuels and chemicals.
- CO₂ & C1 Conversion: Catalytic conversion of CO₂ and C1 molecules into value-added fuels and chemicals.
- Plasma & Solar-Assisted Catalysis: Integration of non-thermal plasma and solar energy with catalysis for sustainable chemical conversion.
- Critical Minerals & Battery Recycling: Recovery of lithium and other valuable materials from end-of-life batteries using sustainable processes.
