My Research Group


Dr. Mehrdad R. Kermani is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Western University. He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from Isfahan University of Technology, Isfahan, Iran and Iran University of Science and Technology, Tehran, Iran in 1994 and 1997, and his Ph.D. degree from The University of Western Ontario, London, ON, Canada in 2005, all in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

From 1997 to 2001, Dr. Kermani worked as an industrial automation engineer in Iran. During his Ph.D., he worked as a visiting researcher at the Integrated Manufacturing Technologies Institute (IMTI) of the National Research Council of Canada (NRC). In 2005, Dr. Kermani was awarded a Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) postdoctoral fellowship and joined Canadian Surgical Technologies & Advanced Robotics (CSTAR). In 2006, he joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Western University where he is currently an Associate Professor.

In addition to Western, Dr. Kermani is a member of Executive Council at Center for Planetary Science and Exploration (CPSX), a member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and Robotic and Automation Society (RA), and a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the Province of Ontario.
