Many remote and First Nations communities face serious water problems.

The main objective of the IDI is to work with Indigenous and remote communities primarily in South-Western Ontario to improve water resource management including the provision of safe drinking water, sewage treatment, protection of water resources and resource recovery.

One vision for WWC is to become a leading regional and international Research Centre that provides solutions for addressing these pressing water management challenges. Water is the most vital element for food security, health and sustainable development.

WWC plan to provide solutions through facilitation and engagement of the stakeholders to work together, including, Indigenous Leaders, water utilities, government agencies, end-users and leading researchers through educational platforms such as workshops, conferences, courses and meetings. Through these platforms, the goal is to implement multidiscipinary applied research to achieve "Smart Sustainable Resilient Water Systems".
