Kermani receives NSERC Postdoctoral Fellowship

NSERC recently recognized Mehrdad R. Kermani, a doctoral student jointly supervised by Drs. Moallem and Patel from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, with a Postdoctoral Fellowship. 

 

Tavakoli recognized with Sister Mary Doyle Leadership Award

Mahdi Tavakoli, a doctoral student jointly supervised by Drs. Patel  and Moallem from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, was presented with the Sister Mary Doyle Leadership Award at the Lawson Health Research Institute (LHRI) Research Days Award Banquet.

Pfizer Canada Discovery Days in Health Sciences
Friday, May 13
South Valley Building
9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Western Engineering is working in partnership with the Faculties of: Medicine & Dentistry, Health Sciences, and Science; the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame; and Fanshawe College to host Discovery Days 2005.  This event is designed for high school students interested in Health Sciences.  The day will consist of workshops, career panels and a keynote lecture.  Click here to view an agenda for the day or contact Lesley Mounteer for more information.

 

The Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences
May 28 - June 5
Now in its 74th year, the Congress will feature more than 80 academic disciplines presenting a wide array of research and has become the largest multi-disciplinary gathering of scholars in North America. Delegates from Europe, Africa and Asia are also expected to travel to Western.

Engineering Library office hours suspended

The Engineering Library office hours have been suspended for the exam period, but will resume for the summer to assist faculty members and grad students with their research. David Fiander, the Engineering Librarian, will be available every Thursday between 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm in a new location, SEB 2079, beginning May 5 and continuing throughout the summer until August 5.

 

Engineering Now summer schedule*:

  • May edition - to be released Friday, May 13

  • Summer edition - to be released Friday, July 15

  • August edition - to be released Friday, August 19

* Dates are subject to change

 

Western Alumni Gazette now available
The spring 2005 issue of the Western Alumni Gazette was mailed to alumni at the end of March. If you would like a copy of the magazine, please contact Virginia Daugharty.  The magazine contains interesting stories regarding Western and the Faculty of Engineering.  Be sure to read the Engineering Faculty Beat section, page 24.
