Emma Donnelly

Emma was born and raised in Ottawa and is one of BERL’s PhD students, continuing with the lab group after completing her Master’s in 2021. Having explored the field of soft tissue injury and hip joint biomechanics during her Master’s, her PhD work is centered around total knee replacement (TKR) approaches and their effect on joint behavior.

Before Western, she earned her bachelor’s in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Hartford and worked a year each in medical device design and public service.

Emma’s interest in biomechanics research stems from watching Grey’s Anatomy (more recently replaced by New Amsterdam) and her years of playing competitive soccer, a passion she continues today.
