Professors Jiang and Yang awarded NSERC Discovery Accelerator Supplements

MME Professors Liying Jiang and Jun Yang have each been awarded $120,000 over three years in recognition of their leadership and innovative research programs. Dr. Jiang’s research aims to develop rigorous modeling and simulation approaches for characterizing the electromechanical dynamics of dielectric elastomer-based structures via a thorough investigation of the complex interplay among electromechanical coupling, material viscoelasticity, instability, geometric nonlinearity, and various failure modes inherent to these materials. Dr. Yang’s research program targets the development of a 3D co-printing technology that will enable the fabrication of microelectromechanical systems such as sensors, biochips and actuators.
