The Award will normally be awarded annually to an engineer to pursue graduate studies in Geotechnical Engineering at the University of Western Ontario. The recipient will be chosen by the executive members of the Geotechnical Research Centre and approved by the Graduate Affairs Committee of the Faculty of Engineering Science. Special consideration will be given to students working in the area of dynamics and soil-structure interaction who have demonstrated a sound academic background and a potential for contribution to the engineering profession in general. Preference will be given to candidates who are Canadian citizens or landed immigrants but consideration will be given to visa students well advanced in their studies at Western. This award will normally be held for one year, but may, under special circumstances, be extended for a second year. The Award was set up in memory of Professor Milos Novak using surplus funds in his computer program account with the Geotechnical Research Centre. Additional funding has come from voluntary public contributions. Professor's Novak's family, Mrs Kitty Novak and Dr. Milos Novak, Jr. were very supportive in initiating this award.
