Dr. P. Karava - Research Interests
PRIME INTERESTS
- Design and analysis of energy-efficient buildings, building-integrated
sustainable/renewable energy technologies, high-performance green
buildings, building ventilation/indoor air quality.
- Wind effects on buildings and their environment (wind/structure
interaction, wind/built environment interaction).
- Integration of wind tunnel and full-scale test methodologies.
- Advanced measurements techniques such as Particle Image Velocimetry.
SPECIFIC INTERESTS
- Development of efficient design methods for optimal integration of
low-energy cooling techniques (natural/hybrid ventilation) and
innovative solar energy technologies into the building envelope.
- Evaluation of wind effects on roof-mounted photovoltaic systems
(stand-alone systems, advanced PV-thermal systems).
- The Three Little Pigs project.
- Wind-induced building internal pressures and their codification.
