  • Ladak receives 2006 R. Mohan Mathur Award for Excellence in Teaching
    Hanif Ladak, jointly appointed Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Medical Biophysics, has been selected as the winner of the R. Mohan Mathur Award for Excellence in Teaching. This annual award recognizes superior teaching performance of faculty members in the Faculty of Engineering. (more)

  • Floryan receives 2006 Engineering Award for Excellence in Research for the Faculty of Engineering
    J. Maciej Floryan, Professor and Chair of the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, has been selected as the winner of the Engineering Prize for Achievement in Research. This annual award recognizes superior research performance of faculty members in the Faculty of Engineering. (more)

  • Western Engineering, a popular choice for high school students
    Engineering is one of the hot spots for high school students seeking admission to Western. While recent numbers released by the Ontario Universities Application Centre show a striking 8.3-per-cent increase in overall applications for Western compared to this point last year, Engineering has enjoyed substantially greater growth across the board - from student's first choice (16.2-per-cent increase) to overall numbers (16.6-per-cent increase).   • Western Engineering makes a big statement at the 2007 Ontario Engineering Competition
    Western Engineering proved to be one of the top performing teams at this years Ontario Engineering Competition (OEC) in Ottawa. (more).

  • Shaikh Razzak and Rajeeb Gautam receive Ross and Jean Clark Scholarships
    The Western Engineering Graduate Committee reviewed all nominations and recently awarded Shaikh Razzak and Rajeeb Gautam with Ross and Jean Clark Scholarships. (more)

  • SunStang team celebrates milestone anniversary this year
    Fifteen years after the conception of the first SunStang solar vehicle, the SunStang project is still in full swing among Western Engineering students. (more)

  • Graduate Scholarship Awarded to Charles Annan
    Civil and Environmental Engineering graduate student Charles Annan has received the Civil Structural Award, a $650 scholarship awarded to a full-time graduate student in Civil and Environmental Engineering. (more)

  • Three Little Pigs research facility gets new name
    The University of Western Ontario is pleased to announce that Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) is providing $500,000 to support ground-breaking research conducted by Western's Faculty of Engineering. (more)

  • A willing suspension of disbelief
    Engineering Student Peter Visscher holds aloft a prototype of a new snowmobile suspension he’s built. Visscher took on the project when current snowmobile suspensions caused back pain that would have meant giving up his winter recreational pastime. (more)

  • Lesley Mounteer moves to a new office
    Lesley Mounteer, recently promoted to Associate Director, External Services, has moved to a new office location. Lesley's new home is SEB 2078, directly across from the Dean's Office. Please update your contact information for Lesley with this new room location and phone number - ext. 83429.

  • Internationally Educated Professionals - AI Coordinator
    The Faculty of Engineering at Western is working with the College of Ontario Universities (COU) and the Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration on a pilot project to provide internationally educated professionals with information about Ontario Engineering Schools prior to immigrating to Canada. Hesham El Naggar, Western Engineering's Associate Dean, Research and External, along with the Manager of COU hired Sohail Khan to lead this project as the Access to Information Coordinator. Sohail will not have an office in Western Engineering, but he may contact you individually with questions for his projects. For more information, contact El Naggar.
