Application Process

Step One

Pay annual application fee of $125. 

  • Submit annual Application Fee Payment on Engineering Ecommerce Site.
  • Pay by Visa, MasterCard, or Visa Debit.
  • Ensure that your name (student name) is entered in the appropriate field (especially if the name on the credit card is not the same as the student’s name).
  • Under “Item to be Purchased”, select annual Co-op Application Fee.

Step Two

Submit your application on Western Connect.

To Submit your Co-op Program Application on Western Connect:

  • Please login to your Western Connect account.
  • Click the INTERNSHIP/CO-OP tab on the left side of the screen.
  • Click the secondary tab UNDERGRADUATE/GRADUATE on the left side of the screen.
  • Click on the INTERN/CO-OP HOME tab on the left side of the screen.
  • To apply for a program, select + Apply to a Program at the top right of this page and select Apply under the MEng program.

  **International students will be contacted via email by wecareer@uwo.ca regarding additional steps pertaining the co-op work permit process. 

Application Deadlines:

For students starting in Fall 2023 - application deadline will be December 15, 2023.

For students starting in Winter 2024 - application deadline will be April 15, 2024.

For Students starting in Summer 2024 - applciation deadline will be August 15, 2024.

Step Three

Prior to getting access to see postings available on Western Connect, students will need to complete a co-op curriculum module available through OWL. Please expect an email to be sent from wecareer@uwo.ca  after having completed step one and two above.

Once you complete the co-op curriculum, you will be granted access to view/apply to co-op positions.

Step Four – Review Opportunities

Students will get access to postings available on Western Connect. Be sure to read each job posting carefully to determine: application deadline date, interview dates, length/dates of co-op, requested degree programs, and method of application.

Step Five – Application Procedure

Electronically submit resumés, cover letters, and transcripts to the job description on Western Connect or to an external email/website address by the specified date.

Step Six – Interview Sign Up

Students who are extended an interview by a company will receive an e-mail from Western Connect or Engineering Career Services.

Step Seven – Interview

Be sure to arrive at least ten minutes early for your interview. Dress in appropriate business attire. Remember to bring copies of your resumé and transcript with you. You are welcome to bring a pad of paper and pen to write down any job details they give you. If second interviews are necessary, they may be scheduled by the employer at their location or on campus.

Step Eight – Job Offers

Employers will contact Western Connect or Engineering Career Services with job offers details. Be sure to check your Western e-mail, as you will be notified via this method.

If your application has been declined - You have not met one or more of the eligibility requirements. Please contact Career Services to discuss.

 

All students (domestic and international) who have met their program requirements should submit an application for graduation by the deadline set by SGPS (please click on link to view deadline to apply to graduate https://grad.uwo.ca/resources/regulations/1.html). If students are successful with a co-op position, the graduation application will be cancelled
