Why did you choose International Development? International development addresses complex world issues such as lack of water, sanitation, and health from an engineering perspective. I believe everyone should have equal opportunities, however, these complex world problems limit people's ability to reach their full potential. Hopefully, with the knowledge and skills I gain from the program I can do my own part to create equal opportunities.

Rebecca Solinger

Hometown: Calgary, Alberta
Why did you choose International Development? I chose International Development to further my knowledge and understanding of global issues that wil affect my work as a future engineer. I have a particular interest in environmental engineering, and the International Development program has been a great opportunity to broaden my view on these issues, such as clean water and sanitation, by providing students with real world examples of problems and solutions. I also chose this program in hopes of gaining first hand experiences in international volunteer work through the summer placement.

Why did you choose International Development? I chose the International Development program, because I knew that I wanted to work within the environmental engineering field, while also being able to travel and contributing to developing countries.  The versatility of being able to apply my skills in Canada and abroad was extremely enticing to me.  With my education, I wanted to be able to support worldwide sustainability while assisting in the improvement of life for people in developing countries.
