CBE Plant Design team to compete in International Design Competition

The Plant Design team from CBE 4497 has secured a spot in the final three at the International Design Competition to be held at World Chemical Engineering Congress in Montreal next month. Team members Karen Lenkiewicz, Suanne Mahabir and Luke McIntyre will present their project entitled, “Production of Polylactic Acid – A Biodegradable Plastic from Renewable Sources.”

A number of faculty members and students from the Department of Chemical & Biochemical Engineering will be in attendance at the Congress, including our new Dean, Andrew Hrymak.

“I am really looking forward to attending my first major conference as the Dean of Western Engineering,” explains Hrymak. “I plan to use this opportunity to promote our strengths, such our research in the areas of wind, energy, earth and water, to conference attendees and local alumni. I also plan to be there to congratulate our students in the design competition."
