Western Engineering’s 6th Annual Research Day opened its doors to prospective graduate students

By Audrey Korol

Every engineering research theme you can think of – from Fluid Mechanics to Nanotechnology - was on display at this year’s Research Day.

Rows and rows of posters representing the research of 78 faculty members and their graduate students lined the Great Hall on Friday, January 26. Representatives from the community and local industry attended the event to view Western Engineering’s exciting new research.

“This event has a huge impact on the visibility and recognition of our research on campus and beyond,” says Dean Berruti. “We had several industry visitors and a number of faculty members and graduate students who have made promising new contacts.”

New to this year’s event was integrating a graduate studies open house to the day’s agenda. Over 75 prospective graduate students attended the event to see what graduate studies at Western Engineering might offer.

“Many undergraduate students attended the event to explore opportunities for graduate studies,” says Dean Berruti. “Their feedback has been quite positive.”
