Abdelkader received his B.Sc. (Hons) and M.Sc. degrees in Computer Science and Pure Mathematics from Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt, in 1986, and 1993 respectively, and his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the University of Western Ontario, Canada, 2005.

Currently, he is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Western Ontario. Dr. Ouda teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in Software Engineering at the department of Electrical and Computer engineering. Prior to this current position, he was working as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Western Ontario, the Department of Computer Science. His current research is on Information Security and Technologies, including Cryptography, Big Data Security and Privacy, Network Security, and Data warehousing and Big Data Analytics.

While working for over 14 years in the computer industry, Dr. Ouda has gained a rich experience in software development. These experiences include Project Management, System Analysis/Consulting, and Database Design. Dr. Ouda employs his industrial experience to show what software engineers in the real world do—something that is more difficult to deliver in the classroom.
