Students funded by this TWNER-CREATE Program will have access to an individualized comprehensive training program including courses to be taken at the home university and outside, physical and social science, and business courses, research projects at the home university, collaborator universities, and industrial partners’ facilities.

Core courses for this program at Western will include physical principles of environmental engineering, water chemistry, biological wastewater treatment processes, and physico-chemical treatment processes. The program will also offer courses in wastewater microbiology, water reuse, resource recovery, groundwater treatment, and analytical methods for water and wastewater as well as numerous related social science courses, sustainability, environmental policy, environmental economics, life cycle analysis (LCA), and project management courses. 

Our existing teaching partnerships with Trojan Technologies, Walkerton Clean Water Centre, and Conestoga-Rovers and Associates, will be expanded to enhance the practical aspects of the project.
