SyNRGS 2013: September 20th and 21st at Western University

About SyNRGS

SyNRGS 2013 is a two day event hosted by the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering's Research for Subsurface Transport and Remediation (RESTORE) Research Group at Western University in London, Ontario. The symposium's objective is to bring together researchers and industry experts to discuss and collaborate on projects relating to the following fields;

  • Surface and groundwater interactions
  • Contamination transport in the environment
  • Water related research
  • Tools and Techniques for tracking pollution in the environment
  • Soil and groundwater remediation

SyNRGS invites all Ontario and vicinity groundwater contamination and remediation researchers (broadly defined) to share ideas, collaborate and give feedback to students in an informal setting. SyNRGS is an excellent opportunity for new graduate students and researchers to network and share their research.

Dates and Location

The symposium will be held at Western University on Friday, September 20th and Saturday, September 21st. The first day of the symposium will be held in Western's Great Hall jointly with the Integrate Annual Meeting. Integrate is a research collaboration between Western University, Queen's University and the University of Toronto's leading subsurface contamination researchers. On Friday night there will be a catered dinner open to all symposium attendees, along with numerous other opportunities to network on Friday and Saturday

The second day will be held in the Spencer Engineering Building. Maps for Western's Campus and the University can be found below.

Oral and Poster Sessions

Oral and poster presentations are invited by all research graduate students. The purpose of focusing on student presentations is to permit them to practice presenting their research and receive feedback on their work.

Oral presentations should be either 12 or 17 minutes in length plus 3 minutes for questions/discussion. A schedule of presenters will be circulated prior to the Symposium.

When registering please indicate your preference for a Poster and/or Oral Presentation and the length of your presentation. A student/postdoc is permitted to present both a poster and oral presentation if they wish.

Students whose research is related to Integrate will present on Friday, September 20th. All others will present on Saturday, September 21st. All researchers are welcome and encouraged to attend both days of the symposium.
