WESA Week 1Week #1: Engineering & Innovation

During Week #1 of the 2015 Western Engineering Summer Academy, students experienced the ins and outs of engineering within a business context. Visits to local start-ups in London as well Western’s own entrepreneurship incubator, Propel, all contributed to this groups final project which was to design their own product.

WESA Week 2Week #2: Mechatronics & Chemical Engineering

During Week #2 students in the mechatronics stream used 3D printing and electrical engineering concepts to build their own mini-robot. The chemical engineering students visited 3M this week to see how this field is used in large-scale production as well they did a variety of lab experiments including making their own solar cell.

During Week #3 our mechanical engineering class worked together to build their own VEX car while our software engineering students designed and programmed their own space invaders game.

Conrad Floryan, a student at Western University, created this short film to provide an insiders look into the 2014 Western Engineering Summer Academy - Mechanical Engineering course. As you will see, students in this program learned how to work together and dream big to design a VEX car.
