Who are "WE?"

Get to know Allison Stevenson,
Communications Officer

How long have you been affiliated with Western Engineering?
Not very long.  I just joined the Dean's Office in the Faculty of Engineering in June 2004.  My position is brand new for the Faculty and is jointly funded by the Department of Communications and Public Affairs.  In my role as Communications Officer, I design, implement and coordinate a broad range of activities aimed at positioning the Faculty of Engineering as a progressive, innovative part of The University of Western Ontario to local, national and international audiences.

What is the first thing you would do if you were Dean of Western Engineering?
I would continue working on the Green Building project.  I think this project has endless possibilities for faculty, staff, students and industry partners.

What do you like most about Western Engineering?
The diversity of the people, the programs and the research.

What was the last book you read?
Shopaholic Gets Married,  by
Sophie Kinsella.

What have you always wanted to try?
I've always wanted to learn how to play a musical instrument.  I'd love to learn how to play the guitar.

What advice would you give to someone considering a career in engineering?
Work hard, play hard.  Engineering is a challenging, yet rewarding career.  Always remember to take time for yourself and your family.

On a typical day, what would we find in your lunch box?
$1.35 for a large Tim Horton's coffee.

What is your favourite movie?
Grease and any other movie with John Travolta.

Which engineer (famous or not) do you respect the most?
Alexander Graham Bell.  I'd be lost without my telephone.

Tell us about your favorite spot on campus.
The Wave.  I love their food.

What is your most memorable moment at Western Engineering?
My most memorable moment at Western Engineering would have September 10, 2004 - the first day of classes.  When I first started at Western it was summertime, so things were pretty quiet (for the most part).  When September 10 arrived and the students hit, my world suddenly changed - for the better.

What are you most proud of accomplishing over the past five years? Renovating my entire house in less than one year.
