As we are navigating through the term with continuing COVID-19 pandemic protocols in place, below are some FAQs for students who have encountered COVID related issue and seeking appropriate guidance for next steps.  The FAQs are prepared based on the information provided by the Office of Health, Safety and Well-Being at Western.

What happens I fail the daily COVID-19 questionnaire?

You must stay at home and do not come to campus. Also fill out the online accommodation request form.  Once the form is processed, course instructor(s) will be notified of your absence. It is your responsibility to follow up with your course instructor(s) to make arrangements for any missed work.

What happens if I am tested for COVID due to a possible exposure and waiting for results?

Complete the daily COVID-19 questionnaire. If you pass the questionnaire, you can come to campus but if you fail the questionnaire, stay at home, and complete the online accommodation request form. Once the form is processed, course instructor(s) will be notified of your absence. It is your responsibility to follow up with your course instructor(s) to make arrangements for any missed work.

What happens if there is a positive COVID-19 exposure in my class?

The Middlesex London Health Unit will contact the Office of Health, Safety and Well-Being at Western who will contact the course instructor to notify the class of a possible exposure and the level of risk. If someone has had a “high-risk” exposure, they will be contacted directly by the Middlesex London Health Unit.

What happens if there is a positive COVID-19 exposure in my research lab?

The Middlesex London Health Unit will contact the Office of Health, Safety and Well-Being at Western who will contact the Dean’s Office to notify all personnel who have access to the lab, of a possible exposure and the level of risk. If someone has had a “high-risk” exposure, they will be contacted directly by the Middlesex London Health Unit.

Do I need to contact my course instructor(s) about health/COVID-19 symptoms/test results, etc.?

No, you do not have to contact your course instructor(s) but rather complete the online accommodation request form and contact Student Health Services. Once the accommodation request form is processed, your course instructor(s) will be notified. I want to know more about the process for contact tracing, notification, and related messaging. Where can I find this?
